For many years I have worked with wood, making furniture as a hobby and some thirty years or more ago made animal figures for our daughters and their friends.
How the ‘TheFarmWorkshop’ started
The name TheFarmWorkshop seemed a natural choice as we live on a small holding with chickens, cattle and sheep. My crafting started when my wife asked me to make a Scottie dog for her friend as a present. The friends daughter saw it and asked if we made cats. From there it has grown as I attended Craft Fairs and now this website. I make things from Nativity Sets to Nest Boxes and gifts for those people you just don’t know what to buy. I hope they will give you as much pleasure as I have had making them. You can now find me on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Amazon Handmade.
Living in a way that doesn’t hurt the planet
I make everything from pine or oak I have purchased from the building industry. They are the off-cuts from making things like stairs and would have been burnt as waste. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes; some are quite large and I can make a whole camel or bread board from a single piece. Some times I saw them into even smaller pieces then glue them together to make larger pieces.
The waste I create I burn on our wood-burner heating our house as a ‘green’ fuel.
